Thrilling news!

Dark Humanity cover image

I’ve got some thrilling news for you!

Apparently Amazon has offered to do a special promotion on the Dark Humanity science fiction and fantasy box set that I’ve been part of since January. This is an amazing opportunity not only for the box set, but for the Red Dog Conspiracy series itself.

So Dark Humanity isn’t going away! We’re looking at being able to continue having it available for sale at the very least through August. Which is very exciting.

This is the set which helped me get to become a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author – and it’s all because of your support.

What this means for The Alcatraz Coup is that for the time of the promotion (and the next three months after), I’ll have to remove the ebook format, except for the copy in the Dark Humanity box set.

On Saturday, I’m headed to Dallas to attend Texas Frightmare – just for fun!

Have a great weekend!

Patty

Collecting the cards – March 2016

Well, we’ve come to the end of another month! It’s been a while since I’ve been “collecting the cards”, so to speak, so let’s do it now. Here’s what’s gone on this month that you might not know about:

  • I went to the Dark Side of the Con show in New Jersey and met a lot of great people. I sold more custom flash drives at this show than at any other so far!
  • I got three new Patrons over on Patreon this month! Which is amazing to me! I’m really grateful for your support.
  • Speaking of Patreon, I’ve decided to do more of my posting over there, and I have a lot more free/public posts than I did before, including this one about the Chicago Mob. You can sign up for Patreon for free, and it’s free to follow the Red Dog Conspiracy. You should come join us!
  • There’s about one more month to go if you’d like to buy the second edition of Dark Humanity. It has the prequel to the Red Dog Conspiracy in it, The Alcatraz Coup. You can get Dark Humanity here.
  • The paperback edition of The Alcatraz Coup is coming soon! I can’t wait to show you the new cover.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Patty

So now what?

I’ve got to get finished revising The Ace of Clubs! That will be the majority of what I do as far as writing goes between now and October, although I do want to finish up some other projects this year.

In other news:

There’s a sale on Dark Humanity (the science fiction and fantasy box set with The Alcatraz Coup in it) – 99 cents for the entire 20+ books through March 12th. Go grab it if you haven’t already!

I’ll be at the Underground Monster Carnival at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds on Saturday. Hope to see some of you there!

Being on the NY Times best seller list

You might have heard by now that the first edition of the science fiction and fantasy box set Dark Humanity (which contained The Jacq of Spades) hit both the USA Today and NY Times best seller lists!

So what does that mean? It means that I can say I’m a NYT and USAT best selling author! Woo hoo! If that helps someone be more likely to buy my books, it’s been well worth it.

In practical terms, it means that myself and the 21 other authors in the box set have spent a boatload of money on advertising, which we won’t see a dime from until probably April. And is being split 22 ways.

So not instant millionaire status, but good! I’ll keep you updated on what else happens. :)

The second edition of Dark Humanity is on Kindle Unlimited, and contains the debut of my military SF prequel to The Jacq of Spades, called The Alcatraz Coup.

Here’s a blurb:

How far would you go to save your city from a madman?

Fifteen hundred years after the Catastrophe, Inventor Benjamin Kerr built the domed neo-Edwardian city-state of Bridges in the center of the former U.S. Three hundred years later, Bridges is in trouble. King Taylor Kerr is elderly, the economy is struggling, and corruption is rampant.

Forty years ago, a fence was built outside of the “Pot of Gold” — the city proper — to keep out the growing numbers of homeless. This number has increased to over a hundred thousand, whole generations knowing nothing else but life in the tent camps.

Acevedo Spadros is a high school Bridges history teacher. His former student Xavier Alcatraz is head of the Guard. When King Taylor is assassinated by his son Polansky Kerr, who then plans to slaughter everyone outside the fence, Acevedo and Xavier plan the unthinkable: to bring down the Mad King.

I hope you’ll go over to Amazon and pick up a copy of The Alcatraz Coup as part of the Dark Humanity box set. Who knows? Maybe it’ll become a NY Times best seller, too!

Or, if you’d like to get just The Alcatraz Coup for free in exchange for posting a review, there are a few spots left – click here to apply!

Dark Humanity has launched!

Dark Humanity cover image

Woo hooo! Today, Dark Humanity, the science fiction and fantasy box set which The Jacq of Spades is in, went live!

Those of you who already pre-ordered it should have found it on your devices this morning! (if not, check with their customer support)

But if you haven’t gotten it yet, don’t fret! We’re going to extend the offer for one more week.

This week only, you can still get the “22 full books for 99 cents” deal by going here and selecting the retailer you want.

This is not some marketing ploy; I’m serious. In one week, the first edition of Dark Humanity will be gone forever. The second edition of Dark Humanity will have fewer authors and many of the books will be replaced by short stories and novellas (including mine!).

So if 22 full science fiction and fantasy books for 99 cents (USD) sounds good to you, then go get your copy!

Patty

Good news!

Today’s a day for some good news, right? :)

A lot has happened since I last wrote to you:

1) After a lot of concerned emails about the Amazon issue, I decided not to pull my book off of all digital formats, as I’ve considered doing. Instead, I wrote a whole new novella for the Dark Humanity second edition (the one which is going on KDP Select the end of January). Which is what I’ve been doing for the past two weeks! Whew! I have never done something like this before, and it’s been a crazy ride.

The book is called The Alcatraz Coup, and is set 100 years before the beginning of The Jacq of Spades. It goes back to my favorite genre, military science fiction. It’s very dark (think Black Hawk Down) but I’m very happy with the way it turned out.

You can ONLY get this book between now and probably May if you get the second edition of Dark Humanity. I’ll let you know when that will be available later, but it’ll be somewhere around January 30th.

Which leads me to:

2) Dark Humanity has sold almost 18,000 copies in pre-order so far! Wow! Talk about good news, for both myself and the other 21 authors in this science fiction and fantasy box set.

This is just a testament to how great this group is. I’m very grateful for your support. We have a wonderful opportunity to make the New York Times best seller list with this box set, which would be amazing for us all.

Getting on the New York Times best seller list has been one of my dreams, and it’s very close to coming true. Thank you.

If you haven’t pre-ordered your copy, go here to find all the information and links. The “22 full novels for 99 cents” offer will only be good until a week after the box set launches January 24th, so if you want these books, you need to get Dark Humanity now.

After that, we’ll upload the second edition, which will contain a lot of new material, both full length, short stories, and novellas, including The Alcatraz Coup.

See you next week!

Patty

New for 2017!

I hope all of you had a lovely holiday and are ready for 2017! Because it’s going to be awesome.

Last week I went over some of the things which happened last year, and it looks as if 2017 is going to be even better for the Red Dog Conspiracy series.

Plans for 2017

1) My usual launch cycle for The Ace of Clubs: Part 3 of the Red Dog Conspiracy is well under way. I spent much of the past week setting up to revise the novel – removing stuff I know I don’t want in there and getting the rest into Scrivener in scene form – and it’s looking very good for a first draft. I think you’re going to like it a lot!

2) I’m planning new swag! After getting input from my street team group on Facebook, I’m looking into creating bracelets for each of the Four Families. I’m also thinking about more bookmarks for my bookmark collection.

3) I’m also planning new merchandise! Since The Ace of Clubs is coming out in October 2017 … we’ll need new custom flash drives! The Diamond flash drives have been even more popular than the Spadros ones, so later this year I’ll get ones for the Clubb Family as well.

4) I have important news about the Dark Humanity science fiction/fantasy box set which The Jacq of Spades is part of.

It’s very likely that the 22 full books for 99 cents deal will only last until January 30th, at which time some of the authors will be substituting new short stories and/or novellas for their full titles. If you’ve already pre-ordered the set, nothing will change for you – but if you haven’t, you might want to grab it now! Click here to learn more.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Amazon is enforcing some rules it made a while ago about books in box sets, and starting January 31st, you will not be able to get The Jacq of Spades in any digital format besides the Dark Humanity box set – that includes Kindle. No free giveaways, nothing.

So if you want to get The Jacq of Spades on its own in a digital format between now and probably May, you should get it now.

Is all this trouble worth it? If the other authors and I can get this box set onto the USA Today and/or NYTimes best seller lists, then HELL YEAH it’s worth it! :)

5) I just got The Queen of Diamonds audiobook second draft back, and I’m reviewing it now. Making progress! I hope to have it out sometime this spring.

None of this could happen without you. If you’ve bought my books, become one of my Patrons, or helped promote my books in my street team, you’re a part of getting this all accomplished.

If you haven’t, you’re welcome to join us:

Goodbye, 2016

So 2016 has been a bit of a rollercoaster for most people … but I’d like to do my annual recap of what’s gone on this year:

  • The Jacq of Spades (which I published in November 2015) went on to reach #1 in Steampunk, #13 in Crime Fiction: Noir and #13 in Hardboiled Mystery on Amazon Kindle.
  • The Queen of Diamonds topped a 23,000 ranking on Amazon overall in pre-order, without being promoted much! That just shows your enthusiasm for my series, for which I thank you. :)
  • I got The Jacq of Spades into a science fiction/fantasy ebook box set called Dark Humanity with 21 other authors, which has sold over 15,000 copies in pre-order! Dark Humanity will come out January 24th for a very limited time.
  • I went to many lovely places this year to sell my books, including New Orleans, Kansas, Texas, and Missouri.
  • I wrote the first draft of book 3, The Ace of Clubs, which will publish in October 2017.

I’d like to invite any of you who are on Facebook to my online New Year’s Eve party – in all time zones! Whether you can make it or not, I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
